CALCULATION OF STRESS HISTORY AND RESIDUAL STRESSES Stress analysis is carried out using an elasto-plastic constitutive law. The stress history must therefore be tracked through the whole quenching process. Mechanical properties are, again, taken as functions of temperature and phase composition, using a simple theory of mixtures. Plastic flow is supposed to be governed by a linear hardening law with the additional feature that newly transformed phase is always considered plastically virgin.
