The youth who were assigned to summer camps did poorer than the control group in the three decades that followed (McCord, 1997). More recent studies with adolescents assigned to groups indicate that they have more negative results in terms of tobacco use and teacher-reported delinquent behavior (Dishion & Andews, 1995; Dishion, Andrews, Kavanagh, & Soberman, 1996).
Between 1989 and 1998, courts with juvenile jurisdiction processed 44% more cases.
